I love spontaneity and action in a work of art. Paint is beautiful, and I like to let its own particular characteristics be the subject of each painting. Sometimes this means drips, splashes, and obvious brush strokes. These all say,"This is paint, not wood or stone or pencil." I love these other mediums as well, but each one has its own special beauty that is different from the rest. The human face and figure are my favorite departure points, but recently I have begun to incorporate the textures, colors, and qualities of light in outdoor and indoor settings into my paintings.
